Trace Genetics DNA Report

DNA comes in two types: mitochondrial (mtDNA, from the mother only, so only provides half the genetic picture); and nuclear DNA (nDNA, which is from both parents and so provides a complete genetic picture, but is difficult to recover from "ancient" bone--older than 50 years). Both types were recovered from the human skull found with the Starchild, proving it was a female, and also proving that she was NOT the Starchild's mother.

mtDNA was recovered from the Starchild, proving its mother was human, which is expected in a human-alien hybrid. Nuclear DNA has NOT been recovered, however, suggesting it has degraded in some unusual way, or the genetic primers could not find any HUMAN chains of base pairs from the father.
